Wellman Dewain Edwards, 84, of Buffalo, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
He was born April 17, 1938, in Birch Tree, Mo. to Clifford and Molly (Birchfield) Edwards, who preceded him in death.
In September 1957 he married Ilene Bowling, who preceded him in death on June 25, 1996. He later remarried to Vonda McClain on July 4, 2015.
He spent his childhood growing up in the Monett/Aurora area. At the age of 18 he enlisted into the United States Army. After his time in service he started a 42-year career at the MFA Milling Center. He was a faithful member of his church.
Survivors include his wife Vonda Edwards; five children, Darrel Edwards and his wife Marta; Montie Edwards, Waunetta Hutton, Janece Phillips and husband Jon, and Sharon Burke and husband Royce; two stepsons, Tom Delaviras and John Dalaviras; one brother, Jerry Ford and wife Shirley; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2022, at The Chief Cornerstone Church in Buffalo with Pastors Chris Paul, Royce Burke, and Orvil Haynes officiating. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Monday at the church.
