Doyle Ellis Murrell, 94, of Springfield, died Saturday, April 20, 2024, in Springfield.

He was born June 10, 1929, in Falcon, Mo. to Aaron and Laura Lambeth Murrell.

On March 3, 1950, he was united in marriage to Grace Gregory.

Those preceding him in death include his parents; brothers, Harold, Hadley, Dale, James, Leslie and Noval Murrell, and one sister, Lois Southard.

Doyle graduated from Lebanon High School. After graduation, he began his lifelong career as a dairy farmer. He was a born animal lover and had a special gift when it came to their needs and the ways of the farm. He worked from sun up to sun down doing what needed to be done and he loved every minute. In younger years, he also enjoyed tractor pulling with friends and family. His most treasured moments were those shared with his loved ones.

He was a longtime member of Brownfield Baptist Church, where he also served as Sunday School Superintendent and Deacon.

Doyle is survived by his wife of seventy-four years, Grace; children, Scott Murrell and his wife Debra of Lebanon, Nancy Wallace and Michael Cassity of Springfield, Greg Murrell and his wife Sherryl of Falcon, and Jeff Murrell and his wife Danette of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Aaron Murrell and his wife Sandra of Joplin, Lauren Willis and her husband Van of Pensacola, Fla., Chelsea Marrocco and her husband Michael of Springfield, Andy Murrell of Portland, Ore., Steven Murrell of Philadelphia, Pa., Koby Murrell and his wife Raiven of Lebanon, Tessa Hamilton and her husband Seth of Savannah, Ga.,  Delayna Murrell of Allen, Texas, and Samantha Murrell, also of Allen, Texas; great-grandchildren, Jackson Willis, Ella Willis, Ellison Marrocco, Lily Marrocco and Ethan Willis; several loved nieces and nephews; other relatives, church family and dear friends.

Funeral services for Doyle Ellis Murrell will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Lynndon Welch officiating. There will be a private burial at a later date at Antioch Cemetery. His body is to be cremated following the service. Visitation will be from noon until service time at 2:00, also on Friday, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
