Henry Carl Dowell, 84, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at his home near Lebanon.
He was born Sept. 5, 1936, in Farco, W.V. to Spencer and Olive Taylor Dowell.
Henry was preceded in death by his wives; his parents; a son, Carl L. Dowell; and three brothers, Clyde, Eugene, and Herbert Dowell.
He was raised in Pennsylvania where he graduated from high school. At the age of 19, he entered the military and served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force for over 20 years. He was trained as an air traffic controller and was stationed in several locations stateside and also in England, Thailand, and South Korea. Once he was honorably discharged, he made his home in the Kansas City, Mo. area and worked as a line supervisor for Amoco Oil Company in Harrisonville, Mo. for several years. After retiring, he and Bobbye traveled across the country in their RV for seven years. They eventually made their home in Lebanon in 2003, where Henry had their home built.
Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Moritz and her husband Greg of Towanda, Kan.; two grandchildren, Chelsea Patton of Benton, Kan., and Colby Moritz of Park City, Kan.; five great-grandchildren; six-year-old Asa; three-year-old Josiah; two-year-old Kyndal; 20-month-old Caleb, and six-month-old Nolan; two sisters, Virginia Osborne of Providence, Pa., and Lois Dowell of Gray, Tenn.; multiple nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Henry Carl Dowell will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2021, at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon with the Rev. David Brown officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2011, at the Mount Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City, Mo., under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon. A memorial to the American Cancer Society has been established and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
