Lebanon’s varsity volleyball team lost to Eldon in three sets Monday.

Coach Jenny Collins said the team had a tough night against a strong Eldon team.

“Kudos to them as they came out and played a solid match from start to finish. Eldon kept us scrambling defensively, and we struggled to get in system consistently enough to spread out our offense, which made us easier to defend,” she said.

“Many times we were limited to a single attacking option, and Eldon’s block and back-row defense did an excellent job of capitalizing,” Collins said. “Too often, our attacks went directly at their defenders, and they were able to transition effectively. Defensively, we found ourselves pulling our offense off the net or sending over free balls that gave their attackers easy scoring opportunities.

“There were moments where we built some momentum and put together runs of points, but we also gave up too many extended runs in return. We’ll need to regroup quickly as we are back in action tomorrow (Tuesday) against COC opponent Ozark, the 2024 Class 5 State Runner-Up. Ozark will bring a big offensive threat along with relentless defense, and we look forward to the challenge,” Collins said.
