A sudden cardiac event occured in early July to an employee at Missouri Cooperage in Lebanon. According to the statement released by the City of Lebanon, eight individuals successfully aided in the efforts to save the person’s life.

Those individuals were Lt. Joe Gerber, Firefighter Adam Moppin, Firefighter Nick Davis, Firefighter Paul Shomo, and Capt. Terry Saltzman. Soon after, Mercy EMS Paramedic Louis Corbeil and EMT Jeremy Vinson arrived to aid and transport the employee.

Fire Chief Sam Schneider recognized the group’s actions by presenting all of them with the Life Saving Award at a City Council meeting on October 26. “The actions taken by Mr. Blattel, CPR which was provided to him by his company, that training was provided by Missouri Cooperage, Mercy EMS, and the Lebanon Fire Department, was successful in saving the life of the patient who was transported to a local hospital for further treatment,” Schneider said.

“This party of people made a great difference in someone else’s life and I appreciate their efforts,” he said. At the meeting, Schneider the employee was still receiving treatment, but was in recovery thanks to the actions of the honored individuals.
