Clara Ann Carter, 81, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, in Lebanon South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lebanon.

She was born Oct. 19, 1935, in Edgecombe, N.C. to Frederick and Nora “Faye” Watkins Marquette.

She was raised in North Carolina and then was a longtime resident of Roby, Mo. She worked as a bookkeeper for several years before moving to Lebanon. She then worked as a night desk clerk at the Super 8 Motel for many years before retiring. She was also a devoted homemaker to her husband and family.

Ann Carter was baptized and most recently attended the Roby Assembly of God Church. She had also attended Mount Olivet Assembly of God near Lebanon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband David Goodwin; her second husband, Leland Carter; a grandson, Jason Stone; and a sister, Avis Dunbar.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Goodwin) Hooper, and her husband Garland, of Fort Myers, Fla., and Becky (Goodwin) Hetherington, and her husband James, of Glade Park, Colo.; a son, Ronald Carter, of Lawrence, Kan.; a granddaughter, Ginger Eodice, of North Fort Myers, Fla.; a grandson, Brad Stone, of Clifton, Colo.; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Marquette, and his wife Francis of Scotland Neck, N.C.; a sister, Kay Whitfield, Tarboro, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Clara Ann Carter are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, in Holman-Howe Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Markley officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pisgah Cemetery near Roby, Mo.

Visitation is scheduled for noon until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association may be made through the funeral home.
