Some Lebanon area residents who drove by three old landmark buildings on Jefferson Avenue Wednesday, Sept. 27 got a surprise the next morning when there was a pile of rubble where the buildings were the day before. The First State Community Bank owns the property at 185, 191 and 195 Jefferson Ave. and decided it was time for the dilapidated buildings to come down. They hired True Construction to raze the buildings. “We had to close down both southbound lanes of Jefferson. We routed traffic through the turn lane going south,” said Danny True, owner of True Construction. “When you raze a building like that, it doesn’t come straight down. It goes out. Public safety was the reason we did that. We just could not have any traffic going down those two southbound lanes,” he said. Demolition started at 11 p.m. Wednesday.
