Betty I. Hess

Betty I. Hess, 95, of Lebanon, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 28, 2025, in Lebanon, Missouri.

She was born May 22, 1930, in Laclede County, Missouri to Adam and Faye Wright James.

Those preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Don Hess, who passed away December 19, 2003, one son, Randall Don Hess, three grandsons, Dylan, Zachary and Benjamin Zwiener and by a great-grandson, Caden Smith.

Betty graduated from Lebanon High School in the class of 1947. She was employed as a dietician at Lebanon Care Center South for several years. However, she was mostly a devoted homemaker and provided a warm and loving home for her family. She also enjoyed farm life and caring for their many types of farm animals. She loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens and sharing them with family.

For many years, Betty has been a member of Brownfield Baptist Church.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Debbie Ruble and Donna Smith and her husband Rama of Lebanon, Missouri and Deanne Pendergrass and her husband David of Richland, Missouri; six grandchildren, Kristy, T.J., Katelin, Adam, Danny and Wesley; several great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Betty I. Hess were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Rev. Marsha Vincent officiating. Burial was in Mount Salem Cemetery.

Visitation for Betty began at 10:00 a.m., prior to the service at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.

Memorials in memory of Betty have been suggested to the Mount Salem Cemetery, and donations can be left at or mailed to Shadel’s Colonial Chapel at P.O. Box 948, Lebanon, Missouri 65536.
