Welcome back, Mike

A Laclede County native was scheduled to head back to Earth on Wednesday after spending six months in space on the International Space Station. Michael Hopkins, a NASA astronaut, was the commander of the SpaceX Crew Dragon that flew to the space station back in November. This was Hopkins’ third trip to the space station. After the six-month stay he just completed, Hopkins has been in space for a lifetime total of nearly a year. Hopkins, who was born in Lebanon and grew up near Richland, was joined on the mission by fellow American astronauts Victor Glover and Shannon Walker, as well as Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Soichi Noguchi.
