Vernon Wesley Stirling, 76, of Lebanon, died Monday, December 2, 2024, in Lebanon.

He was born October 16, 1948, in Pierre, South Dakota to Robert and Carrie “Peggy’’ Harry Stirling.

On June 5, 1971, he was united in marriage to DeArta Fryer.

Those preceding him in death include his parents, and one son, Matthew.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for over 35 years.

Vernon served as an officer in the United States Army in Vietnam. After his service, he went to school to become a meat cutter, and he worked for the government at commissaries in many places over the years. In 1986, he and his wife bought a farm near Lebanon, where he spent his remaining days. Vernon was a workaholic, and loved anything ranching related — raising cattle, rodeos, cattle and horse sales; he loved it all. Even the most mundane thing, such as cutting wood, was enjoyable to him. He loved his family and those spent with them. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
