Valarie Mae Hargis, 70, of Dixon, was born June 28, 1953, in Richland to Oral and Lois (Teubner) Powers and died Friday, April 5, 2024, in Springfield. She is survived by one son, John Hargis and his wife Nicole of Nixa; one granddaughter, Hailey Hargis; siblings, George Powers (Carolyn) of Phillipsburg, Vickie Rogers (Garry) of Lebanon, David John Powers of St. Robert, Dean Powers of Dixon and Ada Marie Shrout (Donnie) of Falcon; a sister-in-law, Sandra Wheeldon (Carol) of the state of Illinois. Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, April 12, 2024, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Hazelgreen Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. also on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
