Unemployment rate drops 3 percent

Laclede County’s unemployment rate dropped nearly 3 percent in May from a near 30-year high of 14.9 percent in April. Lebanon Regional Economic Development Inc. Director Brian Thompson believes that April’s decrease to 12.1 percent unemployment is an indicator that Laclede County’s economy is on the rebound. “The May numbers definitely show a move in the right direction as the unemployment rate dropped by nearly 3 percent after the significant increase in April.” For more on this story see Wednesday's LCR.
