Unapologetically pro-life

Helping women who are facing an unplanned pregnancy is the mission of the Pregnancy Support Center in Lebanon. Shaun Dickerson, executive director of the Pregnancy Support Center, said their core mission is to counsel and provide mentoring and resources for women facing this difficult situation. “As they are considering whether to carry their baby or not, we are trying to get them good information and show them that it’s possible to carry this baby to term,” he said. Dickerson said the organization is “unapologetically pro-life” even though that might not be readily apparent in its promotions. “If you’ve seen our billboards you might wonder, we’re not looking to reach pro-life women that wanted a pregnancy, we’re looking to reach women who don’t know what they’re going to do, they’re scared, all alone and feel like abortion is their only option,” he said. “That’s who we’re trying to reach. There’s times we’ve had people call and get after us because our billboards look pro-abortion, but we just said, if you’re considering abortion, come talk to us, we’ve got solutions and we do have solutions.” He said they will let women know about the options that are available. “Often, if a woman is not married, and the father of the baby is no longer in the picture, it can be a very scary thing, she may feel like abortion is her only option,” he said.
