Two people were injured in a 4:13 p.m. accident Monday on Interstate 44 at the 140 westbound mile marker.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Merixa L. Kunjal, 22, of Baltimore, Md., the driver of a westbound 2020 Freightliner Cascadia traveled off the left side of the road, overturned and struck a cable barrier before coming to rest in the median.
Kunjal was airlifted to Mercy Hospital Springfield, with what the Highway Patrol described as serious injuries. A passenger, Harrison B. Oxendine, 61 of Wedgefield, S.C. was transported to Mercy Hospital Lebanon, with what the Highway Patrol described as minor injuries.
The driver was reportedly wearing a seat belt.
