Terry Lynn (Dampier) Stroup was born in Springfield on Dec. 8, 1970. She entered Heaven’s gates on March 2, 2023. Terry was the fourth of five children to Thelma Williams, being the only daughter. She was raised by Jack and Thelma Williams on Weaver Street, where her mother still lives. Her roots in the Lebanon community run deep. Terry had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She attended the church from a child and rarely missed a Sunday. She accepted Christ as her savior as a young girl at Tabernacle, where she would ride the bus to Sunday School. The church was her family. Any given Sunday afternoon, you would find her working in the church kitchen feeding soldiers. Her soul belonged to Jesus, and her heart was of service and kindness to others. She was always smiling. On April 11, 1992, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, John Stroup. She worked at several places in Lebanon, including McDonald’s, Bass Tracker and Emerson. Terry and John were blessed with one child, Peyton Stroup, who was born in 1997. John and Peyton were her world. You would find Terry at all of Peyton’s events, and she was the biggest cheerleader to her daughter and everyone else at the events. Terry loved children and always sincerely wanted to know everything about everyone in your family. Terry was a passionate sports fan. She loved the Lebanon Yellowjackets, the Kansas City Chiefs and the St. Louis Cardinals. Until she was unable, you would find her at every event at the high school she could attend, cheering on the teams…she loved her black and gold Lebanon High School Yellowjackets! Terry was preceded in death by her biological father, Bill Dampier and her father of the home, Jack Williams.
