COVID-19 has closed schools and put an end to many social activities, but students still need to learn. So teachers in the Lebanon R-3 School District have continued to instruct students, using the Internet and communicating with programs such as Zoom, Google Classroom and Canvas. Schools closed March 17 and the school district has worked to provide education, computers and meals for students, school administrators say. At a recent Lebanon Rotary Club meeting held via Zoom, Superintendent Dr. David Schmitz said school officials worked to make learning possible for students while buildings were closed. “Nearly 4,000 devices were handed out on Monday, March 16 Little kindergarteners went home with the devices in their backpack, just beaming they could hardly stand up, we had that day and we packed the kids’ bags with what they needed so teachers could continue to teach,” Schmitz said.
