Sylvia Jean Pettitt, 83, of Lebanon, died Dec. 23, 2020, in Lebanon.

She was born Feb. 24, 1937, to Eugene and Twila Ankeny Smith.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Devra (Smith) Muntz; and one brother, Sonny Smith.

She was the owner and operator of Merle Norman Cosmetics in Lebanon for 17 years. She was a talented seamstress and made many of her daughters’ clothes when they were young. She enjoyed tending to her garden, both flower and vegetable and canning. Sylvia was a devoted wife and mother, always putting the needs of her family first. She made a profession of faith in Christ as a young child and at the time of her passing, had been a longtime, active and faithful member of Heritage Baptist Church, where she also taught Sunday School.

Survivors include her husband Bob; one son, Bobby Pettitt of Lebanon; three daughters, Terry Lindner and her husband John of Colorado; Laina Starnes and her husband Eddie and Janna Clamme and her husband Jeff, all of Lebanon; eight grandchildren, Ashlee Ehmann and her husband Frank, Chelsea Trammell and her husband Rocky, Charlie Pettitt, Rachele Wood and her husband Dave, Chance Smith, Josh Root, Tarah Root, and Teiah DeVasure and her husband Logan; several great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends

A memorial service for Sylvia Jean Pettitt will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, at Heritage Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Finley officiating. Private burial will be at Mount Rose Memorial Park, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon. To sign the guestbook online please visit shadelscolonialchapel.com.
