Posted
Law enforcement officers came under fire Wednesday night and shot a suspect after responding to a shooting incident in the 900 block of Pine Street in Richland. The shooting victim in the original call received a gunshot wound to the arm and was treated by Richland Police before being transported to Lake Regional Hospital by ambulance for further treatment. No law enforcement officers or bystanders were injured during an almost five-hour standoff. On Friday, the Pulaski County Prosecutor’s Office charged Joshua Hackman, 31, with Domestic Assault in the First Degree and Armed Criminal Action. The prosecutor’s office said additional charges are expected. A warrant has been issued with special conditions and a bond in the amount of $500,000. Hackman is currently hospitalized, and will be released to the Pulaski County Jail upon his discharge. The standoff began after Richland Police called the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office for assistance with the original call. Pulaski County Sheriff Stacy Ball said deputies came under fire while canvassing the area.” Ball said in a Facebook post that several rounds were fired at a deputy's vehicle, striking the passenger side mirror of the patrol vehicle. “The suspect again opened fire at the deputy's vehicle, and the gunman was engaged by another deputy, striking the suspect, who then fled back into the house,” he said.
