Sue C. Lewis, 82, of Lebanon, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

She was born Dec. 30, 1939, in Eldridge, Mo. to Sherman and Dorothy Lorene Hunt Waterman.

Sue married Kenneth Gale Lewis.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Betty Helton.

She was a longtime, active and faithful member of Ozarks Hills Freewill Baptist Church, where she played the piano for many years. She was also the pianist for The New Horizons and other gospel groups.

Sue graduated from Lebanon High School. She remained in the Lebanon community for the duration of her life. Although her top priority was tending to the needs of her family, she also worked outside her home for several years. She worked as a Deputy Sheriff in the Laclede County area for many years and also at City Hall, as well as in the office at Tracker Marine for a period of time. In her free time, she enjoyed playing the piano, knitting, crocheting, canning and completing word puzzles.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; one daughter, Timilea Mitchell of Lebanon; one son, Todd Lewis and his wife Cathi of Lebanon; one sister, Jeannine Waterman  (Jim Ackelson) of Lebanon; four grandchildren, Jared Lewis (Taylor Harris), Heath Lewis, Shayna Wilson and her husband Kyler and Taylor Lupardus and her husband Chris; one great-grandchild, Reese Lewis; other relatives and many friends.

A memorial visitation for Sue C. Lewis will be held at 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, at Ozarks Hills Freewill Baptist Church., 26855 Hwy. 32. Friends are encouraged to pay their respects to the family during these hours. There is no scheduled burial. Her body will be cremated under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
