Stoutland beats out Laquey in Frisco League Tournament

Posted
In the twilight of the Frisco League Tournament, four high school girls basketball teams fought to secure their place in the consolation finals. Stoutland was one of them, facing off against the Laquey Hornets. Despite being in enemy territory, the Tigers beat the Hornets 48-43. Both teams had their supporters and cheerleaders to cheer them on, and both had yet to win a game at that point in their seasons. Stoutland had lost two games, Laquey one. For either of them to take their first win, it would have to be on the court of Laquey High School. The Tigers and the Hornets kept pace with one another in the first period, but shooting like senior Mallory Shaw’s kept the Tigers ahead at 18-12. The second period ended in the Tigers’ favor as well at 23-19, but the Hornets taking the last point set the competitive tone for the game’s latter half. For more on this story, see Wednesday's LCR.
