STELLA JANE (BETTY) MOONEY

Stella Jane (Betty) Mooney, 98, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021, in Lebanon.

She was born May 10, 1922, in Montreal, Mo. to George and Martha Wilson Blanton.

On Feb. 22, 1941, she married Arnold D. “Jack’’ Mooney.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Arnold “Jack’’ Mooney; one daughter, Rita Jane Brown; one son, Jack Mooney; one daughter in infancy, Virginia Lee Mooney; two sisters, Nellie and Maude; and one granddaughter, Tammy.

Betty attended school in Montreal. She was a devoted homemaker and loved farm life. Over the years, she grew everything they needed to keep her family healthy and fed. She was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed canning and was a talented seamstress, making nearly all of her children’s clothing when they were young.

She is survived by her children, Shirley Butcher and her husband Kelly, Babara North and her husband Harold, Sharon Rogers, Cindy Luper and her husband Mike and Debbie Pressley and her husband Mark, all of Lebanon; Jim Mooney and his wife Valerie of Falcon; and Evelyn Wise and her husband Sam, also of Lebanon; 22 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

A private graveside service for Stella Jane (Betty) Mooney will be held at Buffalo Prairie Cemetery at Montreal with Pastor Allen Reeves officiating, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon. There is no scheduled visitation for Betty. Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects beginning Sunday, Feb. 7 from 2-5 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 8 after 8:30 a.m. until departure time for the cemetery.
