Special Road District tax levies examined in court

Posted
The Laclede County Commissioners and County Clerk Linda Cansler went to court Oct. 3 for a second time to seek a judgment regarding taxes totaling an estimated $600,000 to $630,000 that were not collected due to clerical error. Circuit Court Judge Matt Hamner heard arguments regarding the Lebanon and Phillipsburg’s Special Road Districts uncollected but voter-approved road and tax levies. In the hearing for a declaratory judgment, Judge Hamner listened to and discussed the relevant facts with attorneys representing the two districts, who were hopeful that the tax levy the voters approved for the road and bridge levy will be added to the 2023 tax bills to be sent out to property owners at the end of October.
