Social distancing on the golf course

Posted
The onset of COVID-19 and social distancing has limited opportunities for outdoor entertainment and physical activity, but Gov. Mike Parson has specifically allowed golf to continue. Beneficiaries of the governor’s decision include Lebanon’s GreatLife Golf and Fitness and the local golfers who are spending leisure time there. Manager Mike Myers said the fitness center had to shut down, but they are seeing increased business at the golf course since the advent of social distancing. Many were taking advantage of unseasonably warm weather last week to come out and enjoy some time on the course. “We are seeing a pretty significant increase,” he said. “Of course we have a thousand rules to follow now and the people seem to abide by them and don’t have any problem with it.” He gave an example of how many people were using the golf course. “We have 52 golf carts and yesterday (April 7) every cart that was available was on the course at one time,” he said. “I’ve never seen that in the seven years I’ve been here. It’s crazy how busy we’ve been.” For more on this story see Wednesday's LCR.
