Soccer team takes second at tournament

Posted

It was an eventful two days for the Lebanon High School boys’ soccer team, as the Yellowjackets took second place in the First State Community Bank Kickoff tournament on Friday and Saturday.

Lebanon (2-1 overall) fell to a talented Logan-Rogersville team in the championship match on Saturday afternoon by a score of 3-1.

Rogersville got on the board early with a free-kick goal before a lightning delay, pausing the game for 30 minutes.

When the teams returned to the field, Rogersville got another goal to extend their lead before a second lighting delay happened, which lasted roughly close to an hour before the game was able to resume.

With just 12 minutes remaining, Lebanon senior Zach Richards scored his ninth goal in two days to cut the deficit before the Wildcats added a goal from about 40 yards out to cap the scoring and clinch the tournament title.
