Shirley McDowell, 86, of Osage Beach, died Friday, May 27, 2022, in Osage Beach.
She was born July 20, 1935, in Richland, Mo. to Henry and Addie May Warden West.
On Dec. 15, 1951, she was united in marriage to Wilford Layne McDowell.
She was preceded in death by by her parents; her husband Wilford Layne McDowell; sisters, Gladys, Almeta and Linda and brothers, Byron, Francis, Eddie, Leroy, Bob, and John Henry in infancy.
Shirley attended school in Richland. After marriage she was employed as a waitress and cook in several different restaurants and resorts in the area. She enjoyed living at the lake where she could fish, swim, ski, and be with her family and friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Bertha Becker and her husband Larry of Richland; a son, Willliam McDowell and his wife Flora of Columbia; a sister, Polly A. Crawford; two grandchildren, Heather Wilson (Dennis Shelton) and Michael; two great-grandchildren, Candance Lewis and her husband Keith and Dylan Becker; three great-great-grandchildren, Hannah, Hunter and Lincoln, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service and burial for Shirley McDowell will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Richland with Don Anderson officiating under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon.
Visitation for Shirley was held beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
