Sheriff to ask for raises at LCSO

Sheriff Millsap says getting and retaining employees has become a critical issue

Laclede County Sheriff David Millsap says that the need “for good employees” at his office have “reached a critical stage,” and he plans to ask for help getting and retaining employees in his new budget. The Laclede County Commission is currently looking at the next year’s budget. Sheriff Millsap says he is going to go before the Commission on Jan. 7 with a new budget proposal that includes salary increases for his staff. “We will go into the budget hearing with the Commission, the first week of January, with a good case for increasing wages. I am a realist. We will never be able to compete with the private sector, but we have to be competitive and we are not even close.” Millsap said in an email to the Record.
