Ruby L. Schaummann, 91, of Lebanon, died Sunday morning, April 2, 2023.

She was born May 8, 1931, in Morristown, Tenn. to John H. Mutter and Blanche Virginia Lester Mutter.

Ruby spent her early years in various locations, as her father worked for the railroad and his job moved him around. When she was older, her brother Albert introduced her to his friend, Carl Schaummann, who was serving in the United States Army. They were a match and on June 26, 1952, Carl and Ruby were married. Together they shared nearly 65 years of happiness, along with the challenges of life. After they were married, they moved to New York to be close to Carl’s parents and start their family. They lived in New York for 15 years and were blessed with three wonderful children, David, Cathy, and Victoria.

A job opportunity was presented to Carl and they moved to Iberia. They remained there until 1996 when Carl retired and they moved to Lebanon.

While in Iberia, Ruby was active in First Baptist Church and after moving to Lebanon, moved her membership to First Baptist Church, Lebanon. Ruby loved serving God and was at church every time there was an event or service going on. She loved children and many children called her “Grandma Ruby.’’ She taught Vacation Bible School for years and had a bright smile every time you saw her.

Ruby also loved her own grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was so proud of them and loved spending time with them any chance she could. She attended all their sporting events and was always there to listen and support what was going on in their lives.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl, who passed away June 6, 2017; her brother, Albert Mutter and her sister, Joann.

She is survived by her children, David Schaummann and his wife, Teri of Lake Ozark; Cathy Qualls and her husband, Dr. Randy Qualls of Lebanon, and Victoria Schaummann of Springfield; her sister, Maxine McDowell of Kansas City; five grandchildren, Daniel Schaummann and his wife, Madelyn, Ryan Schaummann, Aaron Qualls, Nathan Qualls, Brenna Rider and her husband, Jesse; and three great-grandchildren, Kaylah Qualls, Kip Rider and Kolt Rider.

Ruby enjoyed a long, full life. A life that revolved around her faith in God, her family and her friends. She was a great example of how a Christian woman should live and leaves a beautiful legacy for her family to follow.
