ROSE MARIE TORRENCE

Posted

Rose Marie Torrence (née Dismang) born Jan. 24, 1962 in Columbia left this world peacefully at home on Feb. 18, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones after a long battle with cancer.

Born to Lowell and Melvina Dismang and raised in and around Lebanon, Rose was the second youngest of seven siblings. Rose attended and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1980.

Rose was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Lou, of 41 years. Their love story began when they started dating in high school in 1976 and were happily married in 1981.  They were best friends and rarely spent time away from one another. They enjoyed attending classic rock concerts with friends, family time with their children and grandchildren, making memories at the family condo at Lake of the Ozarks, and their vacations in Florida where they would watch the beach sunsets every evening in Sarasota.

Rose was a kind and thoughtful person who had a great sense of humor. Her contagious smile made her a friend to everyone she would meet. The simplest pleasures in life brought her great joy including a glass of Moscato at a winery with friends, watching Hallmark movies, reading romance novels and all things Christmas, but she found the most happiness spending quality time with her family.

Rose was very accomplished in her professional career and excelled in multiple retail management roles for companies including Eagles Eye, Laura Ashley, Koret, Tommy Hilfiger, Crocs, Christopher & Banks and others before her health forced her into early retirement.

Rose is survived by her husband Lou; daughter Jennifer Torrence (Amanda Lehmann) of Nixa; daughter Andrea Courtney (Jon) of Belleville, Ill.; two beautiful grandchildren McKenna Torrence and Jon (JB) Courtney Jr.; and siblings Glen Dismang (Louetta) of Lebanon; Rick Dismang (Jeannie) of Conway, and Evelyn Dismang of Lebanon, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Lowell and Melvina Dismang; her siblings, Brenda Marks, Dennis Dismang and Gary Dismang; and her maternal and fraternal grandparents.

A funeral mass for Rose will be held at noon March 4, 2023 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lebanon, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 in the Parish Family Center next door.

Rose loved flowers, especially Daisies, so family and friends wishing to express their condolences are welcome to send floral arrangements to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church or make a memorial contribution to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Rose’s honor.
