Ronald E. “Ron’’ Mestan

Ronald E. “Ron’’ Mestan, 82, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, in Springfield.

He was born Aug. 17, 1940, in Lincolnville, Kan. to Steve G. and Anna Slavic Mestan.

On Aug. 22, 1964, he was united in marriage to Patti Prorok.

He enlisted in the Marines after high school and served for four years. He then went to chiropractic college in Lombard, Ill. It was there that he met his wife, Patti. Ron became a doctor of chiropractic, and in 1969 the family moved to Lebanon to start a practice. Ron practiced in Lebanon until he retired in 2005. For many years he worked with horses as a hobby and competed in endurance riding. He also enjoyed photography, working out, smoking a good cigar, working in his yard and being on the river.

Survivors include his wife Patti, and his four children, Lisa and her husband Jeff Riggs, Mike and his wife Jill, Kerri and her husband Doug Gibson, and Dana and her husband Kent DeMartini; six grandchildren, Kailee and her husband Brian King, Alec, Ben, Mitchell, Olivia and Branson; three great-grandchildren, Samuel, Eleanor and Jaxton; his brother, Vic and his wife Judy, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

A Celebration of Life is planned later this year for Ron. His body is to be cremated.
