Robert Lee Jones, 77, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, March 22, 2023, in his home.

Robert was born Nov. 8, 1945, to Delbert Jones and Lois Winifred Martin Jones in Lebanon. He graduated from Lebanon High School in the class of 1963. When he was 24 years old, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam in 1969 – 1970. He then returned to Lebanon and on June 9, 1979, he married Julie Ann Baney. They had one son, Joshua Jones. Together they shared over 40 years of love and laughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Robert is survived by his wife, Julie, of the home; his son, Joshua Jones of Lebanon; his nieces, Christa, Vicky, Tonya, Vicki, Kristi, Sheri and Candy; a nephew, David and his wife, Angie; a grandson, Owen; a cousin, Vicki Niccum; and many friends.

He worked at Detroit Tool where he was a machinist. He later went out on his own and taught his son how to be a machinist.

In 2017, Robert had a stroke. He enjoyed visiting other veterans who were in the same condition he was in. They all served as a great support for one another.

He also loved old cars and was very knowledgeable in antique cars. He also served on the Rt. 66 Board of Directors. Robert looked forward to being at Bennett Spring State Park for the opening day of trout season. He liked to fish and visit with other fisherman that came back to the park year after year.

He was also a very proud man and very patriotic. He loved his country and was very proud to have served with the Army. He loved living in the Ozarks and loved his family deeply. He left a wonderful legacy of service, love and respect to those he left behind.

Visitation for Robert Jones will be held from 10 a.m.-10:45 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 30 in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Waynesville with full military honors. A memorial has been established to VFW No. 4107 and donations may be made through the funeral home.
