Richard L. Mullican died Wednesday, June 21, 2023, in his home near Lebanon at the age of 84. He was born April 14, 1939, in Pecatonica, Ill. to Glenwood E. and Grace E. Mullican.

Richard was a dairy farmer the majority of his life, living in northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin, before moving to the state of Missouri in 1979.

Richard grew up hunting, fishing, trapping, and horseback riding as a young boy in Illinois on the family farm. This is where he developed a lifelong love of hunting squirrels and raccoons. In his young adult life, he began raising and breeding dogs for hunting which turned into a forty-year hobby of raising Mountain Feist and Mountain Cur hunting dogs. Richard sold dogs all over the United States to people by word of mouth, often having return customers who were impressed with his dogs’ hunting abilities. He made lifelong friends and hunting companions that enjoyed endless hours of hunting together and telephone conversations.

He is survived by his wife, Arlean, of the home; three children, Teresa Redd of Lebanon; Tim Mullican of Richland, and Trina Bollig and her husband, Greg, of Lebanon. Also, Arlean’s three daughters, Sheila Ennis of DeWitt, Iowa; Linda Delgotto of West Plains, and Kim Ends of West Plains. Also, 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Richard will be dearly missed by his family and many friends he made throughout his life, including Randy Smyzer of Sheridan; Lawrence Fowler, of the State of Iowa, and Rodney Slamp of Davis, Ill., whom he had a friendship with over the span of 74 years.
