Laclede County residents can find resources for assistance with the ongoing drought.
Gov. Mike Kehoe signed an executive order declaring a Drought Alert for many counties and the city of St. Louis in late September, one of which was Laclede County. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, Laclede County faces moderate to severe drought conditions.
The press release on the order by Kehoe’s office noted that the U.S. Drought Monitor noted that portions or all of 85 counties and the City of St. Louis at the time of the release were experiencing drought conditions.
The Drought Alert, which lasts until Dec. 1 unless terminated or extended, came with Kehoe’s order to direct state agencies to assist in mitigating drought conditions’ effects in the affected communities, the executive order said. The alert was in accordance with the Missouri Drought Mitigation and Response Plan.
