The Laclede County Commission heard Tuesday from Office of Emergency Management Director Randy Rowe that three weather stations went down Saturday due to a suspected straight-line wind.

That report came during the County Commission’s Tuesday meeting, for which Presiding Commissioner Randy Angst and Eastern Commissioner Joe Wasmer were present.

Rowe said that he had “never seen anything like it,” but the three stations -- which he later described were at Pumpkin Center in Dallas County, atop the roof of OEM (which is in the county’s annex building at 186 N. Adams Ave.) and at Sand Spring Resort on the Niangua River – had bent over Saturday.

In the later interview, Rowe said the aluminum mast pipe on the three stations, which was bent, needed to be perpendicular “to the world” for the stations to take accurate readings.
