Pollock spearheads effort to get vet a new roof

Posted
An effort to fix the roof of a Lebanon Vietnam veteran is underway. State Rep. Suzie Pollock said she became aware of the need when she was campaigning for re-election this fall. She saw the signs in the yard in the 500 block of Lynn and asked to place her own sign there. “I was looking for sign locations for my campaign, and I saw the house and knocked on the door,” she said. Pollock met Les and Beth Shield and received permission to place signs. “Whle I was talking to them, I looked up and saw the roof and asked them about it,” she said. “It started leaking two years ago, they had an estimate to repair it, but there was no way they could afford to pay for it,” she said. “They tried to get financing, they couldn’t get financing so they had just kind of given up. They didn’t ask for help. They were content to live in two rooms of their house.” For more on this story see Saturday's LCR.
