Peggy Ann Watkins, 88, of Lebanon, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024, in Lebanon.

She was born Oct. 24, 1935, in Lebanon to Dale F. and Agnes Nicks Murrell.

On June 5, 1954, she was united in marriage to Gary Walker Watkins.

Those preceding her in death include her parents; her husband Gary on Sept. 29, 2014; one brother, Bobby Murrell, and one sister, Susie Smith.

She was a longtime bookkeeper for Montgomery Motors. In her free time, she loved to play Bridge with friends. She also enjoyed crocheting and was a volunteer for many years at the voting booths. Anything to do with her community, she was always willing and able to donate her time. She loved spending time with her fur-baby, her dog, “Sissy.” However of all the many things she loved about this life, spending time with her children and grandchildren is what she treasured most.

Peggy was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, where she was also a member of the choir. She had a beautiful soprano voice and used her talents to glorify the Lord.

Peggy is survived by three children, Michael Watkins, Debi Palmer and Pam Johnson and her husband Wayne; one brother, Billy Murrell; four sisters, Margaret Smith, Norma Helton, Sharon Palmer and Paulette Bird; grandchildren, Staci Rogers and her husband Scott, Brandon Palmer, Lindsey Casey and her husband Joe, Jared Watkins, Brett Farner and his wife Kayla, Diedra Bass and her husband Corey, Sarah Gibson and her husband Luke, Travis Johnson and his wife Amber, Ginger Kurt and her husband Sam and Chance Palmer; twenty-two great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Marsha Vincent officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, also at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
