A pedestrian was killed when he was struck by a tractor trailer at 7:16 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 44 at the 143.8 mile marker.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Tipton J. McCurley, 58, of Eucha, Okla., the driver of a westbound 2016 Freightliner Cascadia, was traveling southbound and struck the pedestrian, Cullen T. May, 36, of Springfield, in the roadway.
May was pronounced dead at the scene by Laclede County Deputy Coroner Daniel Jones, according to the report.
The driver was reportedly wearing a seat belt.
