Patrick Dale Heflin, 63, of Pittsburg, formerly of the Bennett Spring area, died Thursday, April 29, 2021, at his home near Pittsburg.

He was born Feb. 5, 1958, in New Orleans, La. to John D. Heflin and Linda L. (Milsap) Heflin.

On Sept. 11, 1982, he married Kathy Cornell.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, John Daniel.

He and his family moved to the Kansas City area in his early childhood. In 1974 He joined the United States Marine Corps. He was a corporal in the USMC and served in the Vietnam War in the sniper unit. He was honorably discharged in 1978.

Patrick was a journeyman Union Carpenter and was a member of local 1329.

He his wife Kathy ran Whistlestop Campground near Bennett Spring until 2010.

Survivors include his wife Kathy Dawn of the home; a daughter, Katie Heflin of Urbana and grandsons, Dylan and Wyatt of Urbana; a son, Zachary (Liza) of Odessa and grandchildren, Dakota, Lily, Zachary Jr. and Jackson; a son, Jacob Michael of the home; a brother, Larry Hefln (Shirly) of Oak Grove, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Kathy Marie Heflin of Blue Springs, and a sister, Jackie Sue Gentry (Don) of Shawnee, Kan.; Kazen Meirarend (Walt) of Independence, as well as many nephews, nieces and great-nephews, and great-nieces.

Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, May 6, 2021, in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-noon in the funeral home.
