Patricia Jo “Patty’’ Wassem, 87, of Lebanon, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2022, in Lebanon.

She was born Oct. 18, 1935, near Lebanon, Mo. to Joe and Opal Caviness McCain.

On Feb. 14, 1953, she was united in marriage to Roger W. Wassem Jr.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe McCain; her mother, Opal McCain McKelvey; her husband of 52 years, Roger, who died on March 20, 2005; one sister, Abigail Miller; three sisters-in-law, Donna Wood and her husband Wayne, Mary Bratek and her husband Johnnie and Joan Sullivan; one brother-in-law, Bud Hall.

Patty was a devoted homemaker and a wonderful cook. While the kids were young, she babysat in her home. In later years, she was employed by the H.D. Lee Company. She and Roger managed the Get Away Arcade and she also worked as a deli clerk at Gerbes, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

She was a member of First Assembly of God in Lebanon.

Survivors include her son, Mike Wassem and his wife Sharon of Lebanon; her daughter, Pam Jessip of Ozark; two sisters-in-law, Jean Hall of Springfield, and Diane Burke and her husband Jim of Lebanon; special care givers, her cousins, Janice Pogue and Sandra Churchill, along with Regional Hospice; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.

Funeral services for Patricia Jo “Patty’’ Wassem will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Ryan Bowles officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon. Visitation will be held from 6-8 Tuesday at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel. Memorials have been suggested in memory of Patty to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Alzheimer’s Association. Donations may be left at or mailed to Shadel’s Colonial Chapel, P.O. Box 948 or 1001 N.
