OTC to offer EMT course

Posted
Ozarks Technical Community College will offer an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course at its Lebanon center beginning this summer. Currently, OTC offers EMT training at its Springfield and Table Rock locations. The EMT course at Lebanon begins June 1, and classes will be held from noon-4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In the fall of 2021, the Lebanon center will offer the EMT course on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-9 p.m. Students learn how to treat ill or injured patients, resuscitation, trauma care, and patient transport along with other emergency medical procedures. Josh Freeman, program director – paramedicine at OTC said the course will help fill a local need for paramedics. “The EMT course we will offer is built from the national EMS education standards, will teach current best practices, and prepare students to function as an EMT or transition to paramedic,” he said. “We see a demand for the course in the area because of the number of applicants form Lebanon and surrounding areas. We have several community partners that support the course and need the graduates.” For more on this story see Wednesday's LCR.
