The Missouri Department of Conservation has announced their welcoming of Crossland Construction Company to the Bennett Spring Hatchery renovation project in Bennett Spring State Park.
The update came from the MDC’s Bennett Spring Construction Updates webpage. It said the Crossland team would start looking at and evaluating the construction site, taking a complete list of materials and mobilizing equipment over the next several weeks.
The update also said MDC will provide more information about the project and its expected completion date as it becomes available.
Aaron Jeffries, MDC Deputy Director, confirmed in an email that Crossland Construction Company will clean up and assess the situation on the site. They could then determine a completion date.
He also said the original contractor was Cahills Construction Inc. of Rolla and that there was a temporary contract with Crossland as they started to clean and assess the construction site.
The Record previously reported that construction on the $40 million project – which included a new intake structure, office, raceway reconstruction, improvements to water quality and other refurbishments and upgrades – had been paused effective Sept. 10.
The project broke ground in 2023 with Cahills Construction as the contractor on the project.
The Record put a slightly expanded version of this story in Jan. 27's issue.
