With no public (besides the Record) in attendance during Tuesday’s meeting in Laclede County’s courthouse, the Laclede County Commission concluded their public hearing for the county’s 2026 budget and covered other matters.
The topic the commission spent the most time on was a proposed agreement that would allow the bank that handles the county’s financial accounts, Heritage Bank of the Ozarks, to sweep their account funds through an affiliated network of banks.
ICS, Heritage CFO and president Lance Boyer later explained to the Record, is a network and product of IntraFi. According to IntraFi, with ICS as well as CDARS and IntraFi Cash Service, financial institutions can let customers access millions in aggregate FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation) insurance through networked banks.
Rob Blackwell, the chief content officer and external affairs head for IntraFi, said in an email that ICS stood for IntraFi Cash Service and CDARS stood for Certificate of Deposit Account Registry Service.
Boyer spoke with the commission over the phone during the meeting as well to discuss the proposal.
They approved an attendant agreement to last week’s approval of a one-year agreement with Johnson Controls for fire suppression maintenance and inspections that the Record wrote about in its story last Saturday.
The agreement approved this meeting was for inspection and fire extinguishers at the county’s road and bridge shop, Laclede County Clerk Linda Cansler later confirmed. Presiding Commissioner Randy Angst said the agreement was for one year with an annual cost of $336.
They also approved a personal property tax refund request, which Eastern Commissioner Erik Lindsey said was $400.71.
The meeting ended with an un-seconded, unvoted upon motion to adjourn.
