Posted

Oliver James Garton passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, January 28, 2024. Born at 27 weeks, at 3:56 p.m. in Osage Beach, Missouri, he weighed 3pounds and was 13.5 inches long. He passed peacefully in his mommy’s arms after 90 minutes together with his mommy and daddy. Oliver will be missed on this side of heaven by his parents, Andrew and Sheila (Reynolds) Garton along with his siblings, Owen and Elijah. He was deeply loved by his grandparents, PJ and Heather Garton, Brian and Many Bonner and Stephen and Jennifer Reynolds. Oliver was welcomed into the world surrounded by a loving extended family. He was adored by his great-grandparents., Terri and Vic Weir, Jack and Geneva Reynolds, Phil and Marie Garton, Harry and Karen Boyer, Howard and Patty Bonner and Fran and Don Sing. He was blessed with numerous generations of aunts and uncles, as well as cousins both near and far,

Though we grieve the loss of a lifetime with Oliver, we find joy as we think about the ways that this sweet boy was part of our family over the past 27 weeks. From big family dinners surrounded by love and laughter to everyday life in a busy family with the sweet pats of his big brothers through mommy’s tummy. He was a very loved addition to the family. Each day was precious as the family was aware that the time with him would be short. Once he arrived, he was surrounded with love and laughter, sweet cuddles and tears. The day before his arrival was filled with laughter while Mommy and Audra Harris enjoyed a girl’s weekend away.

Author C.S. Lewis wrote of endings and new beginnings like Oliver’s when he wrote, “For us this is the end of all the stories, and we can most truly say that they all lived happily ever after. But for them it was only the beginning of the real story…at last they were beginning Chapter one of the Great story which no one on earth has read: which goes on forever; in which every chapter is better than the one before.”

Oliver’s adventures are just beginning in a place where there are no more faulty chromosomes, no more tears, and love and laughter in the loving arms of our Savior.
