Laclede County’s weekly COVID-19 briefings are ending for now. At last Thursday’s briefing, Laclede County Office of Emergency Management Director Randy Rowe said this would be the final meeting unless there are further developments that warrant restarting te briefings. “We are not done yet, we are still testing,” Rowe said. “Do not let your guard down, try to protect yourself, your loved ones and others.” Sam Allen from the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office said court sessions will start again May 18 on a limited basis. He said only a certain amount of people will be allowed in the courtroom. “It will be kind of the first phase of opening up,” he said. “We will have a meeting next week on how we’re going to do that and who’s going to do what.” He said anyone with a case coming up should check first before coming to the courthouse. Allen said the jail planned to continue its current protocols for the next four to five weeks. “We are thankful for our jail staff because they’ve done an excellent job in keeping that out of our jail facilities and we had to be really careful bringing inmates in from other counties that had been subject to the virus,” he said. Lebanon Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Darrell Pollock said the Chamber is working on an email survey of businesses, nonprofits and other entities. He said they want to make sure everyone is finding the resources available from federal, state and the county government. “If you’ll send your email to the chamber, we’ll get you added to that,” he said. The address is chamber@lebanonmo.com. Lebanon Mayor Jared Carr said the city was no dealing with getting power restored after Monday’s storm as well as the pandemic. “We are working through that while at the same time working with the Health Department and OEM to open things back up,” he said.
