NITA LEE JOHNSTON

Nita Lee Johnston, 65, of Stoutland, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, at the University Hospital in Columbia.

She was born Dec. 27, 1955, in Springfield, Mo. to Albert Ellis and Olive Alec Marshall Mitchell.

On July 1, 1972, she married Rayborn Johnston.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Dorothy.

Nita was raised in the Stoutland community and graduated from Stoutland High School. While she was in high school, she met her future husband and they were soon married after graduating. Throughout the years, Nita was always a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, and worked at the H.D. Lee Company in Lebanon for several years. For the last few years, she has owned and operated Dogwood Hills Kennel.

She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband Rayborn of the home; a daughter, Jodi Hall and her husband Dakota of Stoutland; three grandchildren, Hanah, Rilee, and Mason Wells; two sisters, Freda Randolph of Kansas City, Mo. and Wilma Plemmons of Iberia; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Nita Lee Johnston will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon,

Burial will be in the Hillhouse Cemetery near Stoutland, under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.

A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
