Laclede County Public Administrator Zane McCaslin, who took office Jan, 1, has resigned.
Laclede County Presiding Commissioner Randy Angst said the commission had received a letter of resignation from McCaslin and discussed it in an emergency meeting Tuesday afternoon.
In a Facebook message to the Record, McCaslin said he had resigned "due to health issues."
The County Commission has appointed Annette Charles, a deputy in the public administrator's office to serve as interim public administrator until the governor appoints a permanent replacement. She was sworn in Wednesday morning.
Angst said her experience in the office  should benefit the clients served.
“That will bring continuity for those clients that are served by that office,” he said.  He said she was famiiar with the office's operations and  instrumental in late 2020 in making sure there was a good transition from one elected officeholder to the new elected officeholder.
