MONTE CLARK HATFIELD

Monte Clark Hatfield of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Windsor Estates in Camdenton, at the age of seventy-seven years, eight months and two days of age. He was born June 6, 1946, in Midland, Michigan to Clarence and Margaret Hatfield.

He spent his early years in Michigan and graduated from Midland High school in 1964. He had a talent and appreciation in electronics and excelled in his career in electronics, working for several companies over the years.

When he was a young boy, he became interested in ham radios. He got his ham radio license at age thirteen. When he was in his mid-twenties, he built his own satellite receiver, a twenty-six foot one. He talked to ham operator buddies all over the United States and several foreign countries. He was a life-long member of the ham radio club as well as a member of the Christian Amateur Radio Fellowship network. He was happiest when he was at his radio or his computer. He also enjoyed listening to gospel music. Late in life, he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and was unable to enjoy his hobby like he wanted to.

He also was a former firefighter and a past-member of the Laclede County Emergency Response Team and a storm spotter.

Monte was an active member of Community Baptist Church in Lebanon and loved God with all his heart. He was ready and looking forward to spending eternity with his Lord and Savior in Heaven.

He married at a young age and to this union, six children were born. In 1986, he married the love of his life, JoAnn (Rigsbee) Moody. Together they shared the last thirty-seven years of wonderful memories and stood together through the challenges of life.

Monte was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Garnett Hatfield; one step-son, Gregory Moody; a step-grandson, Perry Peterson; and two sisters-in-law, Gail Peeler and Judy Nichols.

He is survived by his loving wife, JoAnn; five sons, Brian Hatfield of the home, Matthew Hatfield and his wife Jen of Merrit Island, Florida, Jeremy Hatfield and his wife Nellie of Claremont, South Dakota, Eric Hatfield of Melbourne, Florida, and Joseph Hatfield and his wife Toni of Lynchburg; two daughters, Jackie Fredrick and her husband Don of Palm Bay, Florida and Angel Sartain and her husband David of Twin Falls, Idaho; two step-sons, Derek Moody and his significant other Stevie of Yulee, Florida and Steve Moody of Atlanta, Georgia; twenty-seven grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren; and other relatives, friends, and his wonderful church family.

Monte was gifted at being able to fix anything. He was fascinated and enjoyed technology. Most of all, he loved his family. His life revolved around them and he enjoyed spending time with them as much as he could.

We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made with them.

Services will be Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon. Visitation will be Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park.
