History was made at the MSHSAA Class 1 Girls State Championships on Friday and Saturday in St. Peters.
Lebanon freshman Missy Mizell became the first state medalist in school history for girls’ swim with a 5th-place finish in the 50 free. Mizell swam a time of 24.24 seconds in her finals time and a time of 24.23 in preliminaries.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Mizell placed 9th with a finals time of 59.63 after just missing the finals by less than three-tenths of a second. She broke school records in both events.
Head coach Stacey Meckley was proud of Mizell’s historical performance.
