Missouri Supreme Court ruling draws attention to Lebanon

Posted
A Missouri Supreme Court ruling on Tuesday brought some national attention to Lebanon. In its decision, the Court upheld the convictions of two single mothers who were charged with violating Missouri’s compulsory attendance law after their children missed school in the Lebanon R-3 School District without a documented illness. Court arguments focused on whether the state law was too vague. Also argued was the meaning of “regular attendance.” The case received coverage in The Hill, The Wall Street Journal and other media.
