Mildred Louise Reid, 91, of Lebanon, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024, in Lebanon.
She was born Dec. 3, 1932, in Lebanon, Mo. to Ira Leighton and Beulah Viola (Scott) Hoke.
On Aug. 5, 1952, she was united in marriage to Joe David Reid.
Those preceding her in death include her parents; her husband, Joe on April 30, 2015; and one great-granddaughter, Abigail Shank.
Mildred accepted Jesus Christ into her heart at the age of fourteen.
She was a devoted wife and mother. She put the needs of her family first. However, she was also very involved with volunteer work throughout her life. She was involved with Project 25:35 Community Dinners through First Baptist Church, active at the Hughes Senior Center, volunteered at Southern Heights Christian Church in their overseas clothing, bicycle and tennis shoe ministries, Frontier Missions, L-Life Food Bank, Courtyard at First Baptist Church, Lebanon Elementary Schools, and Director of Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Shoebox Ministry. In 2018, Mildred received the Missouri Senior Service Award presented to her at the State Capitol. Because of her servant heart, during COVID time, she also made masks and donated them all over town. She was also a talented musician. She played the accordion, piano and organ. Time spent with her family is what she treasured most.
Mildred is survived by two children, Rhonda Shank and her husband Bob of Mesa, Ariz. and David Reid and his wife Lesli of Lebanon; six grandchildren, Courtney Starnes and her husband Clint, Cullen Reid and his wife Britlyn, Bailey Morris and her husband Daniel, Stephen Shank and his wife Kara, Nathan Shank and his wife Kari and Christine Snyder and her husband Philip; twenty-one great grandchildren, Hayden, Hudson and Harper Starnes; Anna, Isaac, Joe and Mac Reid, Crosby, Truman and Foster Morris, Payton, Langley, Levi, Boaz, Hannah, Samuel, Phoebe and Eli Shank, Josh, Abby and Ethan Snyder; other relatives and many special friends and caregivers.
Funeral services for Mildred Louise Reid will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2024, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Pastor Bob Shank officiating. Entombment will be in Mt. Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will begin at 1:00, also on Monday at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel.
