MATTIE FRANCIS LONG

Mattie Francis Long, 94, of Montreal, died Tuesday, March 30, 2021, in Lebanon.

She was born, May 30, 1926, in Stoutland, Mo. to Rev. J.M. Brown and Lena Doyle Brown.

On Oct. 25, 1947, she married Donald “Jack’’ Long.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Donald “Jack’’ Long; a son, Paul Long; brother, Jim Brown, and grandson, Donnie Simpson.

Mattie was a school teacher until she married. She was saved at an early age and spent her life in service to the Lord and her family. She was a song leader and VBS leader for over 50 years. She loved time spent with family and especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren play ball.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Richland.

Survivors include her children, Sharon Sweatt and her husband Richard, of Montreal; Karen Simpson and her husband Fred, of Montreal; James Long and his wife Sandra, of Holt Summit; grandchildren, Rick (Jessica) Sweatt, Jonathan (Sarah) Sweatt, Fred (Jeni) Simpson, Sherry (Jeremy) Taylor, Shelby (Michael) Kinnaman; great grandchildren, Ally, Andy, Brittany, Braden, Jake, Brooklyn, Josh, Jack, Todd, Grif, Kyah, and Mattie Jean; great-great grandchildren, Waylon, Westin, Everett James and Harrison; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mattie Francis Long will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel with Bob Lilly and Matt Brady officiating.

Burial will be in Buffalo Prairie Cemetery near Montreal, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon.

Visitation for Mattie Long will be prior to the service at Shadel’s Colonial Chapel on Saturday morning.
